Los Angeles Firemen's
Credit Union, Los Angeles, California

Following the complete demo of a small, dark entry lobby, a new, central signage pole — symbolically referencing a fireman’s pole — becomes the radiating theme for the curved glass doors that lead to the teller line and of the main bank branch. During business hours, the doors slide apart to enclose the art display booths flanking the entry. An elegantly curved guard’s desk is relocated toward the back, near the elevator bank, enabling full view of the circular space.

LED Details

This LEED Platinum Certified project utilizes energy efficient LED lighting in the recessed coves in the ceiling and behind the textured wall panels in the redesigned lobby area. New polished-concrete floors provide sustainable and durable elegance.

Echoing Curves

The curved front panel of the teller line within the Credit Union plays off the central pole and curved doors in the elevator lobby, further emphasized with a curved ceiling soffit. Semi-private member service workstations with custom designed frosted glass panels provide privacy for members while still allowing natural light to flow throughout the office.

Open Plan

Open workstations along the window line enable full access to exterior views throughout the space. Enclosed private offices are located at the core, with windows to similarly take advantage of views and light.

Interior Improvements

New, patterned carpet, accents of bright paint colors, and asymmetrical wall lighting add interest to interior hallways.

Conservation-Based Design

Countertops and tile fabricated from recycled glass provide beautiful and eco-friendly upgrades to the building’s public restrooms. Dyson “Air Blade” hand dryers conserve paper; informative signage reinforces the environmentally conscious message.
