Woodland, Kentfield, California

Nestled against the trees, this multi-million-dollar property had been in a severe state of disrepair. Working closely with the developer on the project, Amato Architecture created construction plans for a new 900- square-foot addition consisting of a two-car garage, with adjoining laundry, pool-bath and interior stair to the existing home, and a playroom, bedroom and bath on the second floor, above. Services included on-site construction administration, attendance at weekly contractor meetings, and detailed finish specifications for the addition—as well as for the extensive renovations and upgrades needed throughout the house.

Restored and Refreshed

Choosing a darker stain when refinishing the railing and stair treads increased visual contrast and improved the desired formal feel of the entryway. New finishes and upgrades also included new doors and windows and restoration of original hardwood floors.

Formal and Light

A new fireplace surround, lighting and paint colors revive the formal living room.

Magnificent View

View of the new outdoor barbeque area, poolside, as seen from the second floor deck, off the master suite.

Custom Hood Featured

Beautiful, detailed tile work in the custom stove hood becomes the focal point of the kitchen. Re-facing cabinet doors and installing new countertops brought character to a formerly bland kitchen.

Indoor-Outdoor Flow

Views to the pool deck from the family room were enhanced with new, larger windows and doors.

Bright Nook

This eating nook adjacent to the kitchen also enjoys views of the pool.

Grand Room

Increased Access

Relocating this powder room and opening it up to both the Study / Office and to hallway beyond provides easy access for use by both the owner and guests.

Generous Bedrooms

One of the four bedrooms upstairs, this kids’ room is sunny and has generous play space for little ones.

Dropped Soffit

Adding the dropped ceiling soffit, with its multiple layers of crown molding trim, ensures the elegance and sophistication of the master bedroom.
