Historic Pickleworks-turned-Employment Law Office (Commercial, Interior Redesign, Kitchen Remodel)

The transformation from a child therapy center into an employment law firm meant the reconfiguration and redesign of Emeryville’s historic 55th Street Pickleworks building. Retaining as many of the original walls as possible, we created more private offices and workstations and added a reference library with hallway shelving and floor-to-ceiling poles-turned reading stations. We loved the original barn doors in the conference room, so we kept them as a nod to the building’s historic past while adding glass doors and sidelights to meet the firm’s need for acoustic separation. A kitchen redesign created a more appealing common space with access to the beautiful outdoor patio, framed with vibrant red trim on doors and windows. Throughout the project, we worked closely with the furniture vendor to create floor plans and select finishes that make the space comfortable for staff and welcoming to clients. Don’t miss the decorative pickles that still grace the front gate!
