Remodel, Kitchen, Bathroom
It’s always fun to work with clients who have a sense of flair — especially when the clients are also good friends! For this Berkeley remodel, we replaced a dark, cramped 1970s kitchen with an airy, open-plan redesign featuring a kitchen island, breakfast nook and bi-fold glass doors that open onto the patio. Orange backsplash tile from Fireclay and the bright pendant light in the nook pop with warm grace notes, and the floral wallpaper in the new half-bath is pure fun. Now the main floor is the perfect space for a family that loves to entertain. Meanwhile, the upstairs has become a functional and relaxing sanctuary, including a large walk-in closet in the primary bedroom. With some creative rethinking, a former balcony is now a laundry room and another open balcony at the back of the house was enclosed to create a more spacious primary bath where classic walnut wood finishes meet fun blue tile. The best part of this remodel might just turn out to be getting invited back as a guest!
