Craftsman Bungalow (Kitchen Remodel, Renovation, Addition)
Tradition meets the 21st century in this classic Rockridge family home for four, where we began with a kitchen remodel that created more functional features while retaining the original character of the home. Take, for example, the classic eating nook, now upgraded with a secreted charging station for electronic devices which transforms the familiar breakfast table into an all-purpose homework and work-from-home station. Connection was the driving theme when the remodel expanded beyond the kitchen, widening the door between the kitchen and living room and creating a comfortable family room that connects the rest of the home to the once-difficult-to-reach yard. With a new family room that’s this comfortable and open to the outdoors, entertainment options beckoned: a new bar just inside the patio doors means never spilling a cocktail on the way to and from the kitchen. The opportunities for using the existing ground-level eventually included turning a leaky old space into a new garden-view primary bedroom suite. For the parents in this family, giving their daughters the two bedrooms upstairs meant not giving up a thing!
