For the extensive redesign of this 1930s plantation-style home, trade winds carried us to the west shore of Maui. On the exterior, we preserved the home’s historic architecture in compliance with local ordinances. On the interior, we said Aloha to a clean, modern design featuring beautiful hardwoods and finishes and modern tile. By enclosing the lanai within an 18’ bi-fold glass door, we achieved open-plan living and dining with sweeping waterfront views and beach access. Just outside the master bath, an outdoor shower creates a relaxing transition from the beach to the house. Do we mind traveling to Hawaii for our clients? ‘A’ ole palikir –it’s no problem.
