A spacious renovated kitchen features green base cabinets and light wood upper cabinets, new stainless steel appliances, and an eat-in peninsula. A large window above the sink overlooks the exterior garden, allowing for lots of natural light.

Remodel, Kitchen

Creating an open living space great for entertaining gave us an opportunity to return this Rockridge home to its Mid-Century roots. First: Out with the over-the-top marble entry floor and decorative handrails! Reconfiguring the entry  stairs, building new closet doors and creating a clear path through the newly open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen allowed views from all rooms to the outdoors. Our client loves gardening; we widened windows and added an eat-in peninsula so she can look out on her big, beautiful backyard. Her husband loves roasting coffee and mixing specialty cocktails. For him, we created a mini cocktail bar with its own dedicated sink. Even the laundry area has become part of the common space, welcoming and calm with sea-blue tiles chosen by our client, who brought a designer’s eye to colors and finishes throughout the renovation. There’s only one spot in the renovated space that remains small, dark and mysterious: a private bathroom for the family cat.
