Serpentine Restaurant, San Francisco

Commercial, Restaurant, Remodel
To convert the historic Monice’s Chinese Cafeteria into a contemporary Dogpatch dining space, we started by stripping out all of the old finishes and drop-grid ceilings to expose the original beams and columns, down to the serpentine rock which gives the restaurant its new name. We loved the industrial beauty what we found so much, we decided to keep them! In our new layout, the old buffet line has become a bar and, when Happy Hour gets the bar buzzing, diners sitting at tables behind a custom-designed steel partition can slide panels across the oval cut-outs for more private dining.
